Appreciation post: The found family in 'The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet' caught me off guard
I picked it up expecting a simple space adventure, but the crew's slow build into a real family unit hit me hard. The moment where the pilot, Sissix, just quietly fixes another character's broken mug without being asked really stuck with me. What other books have that kind of quiet, earned family moment?

Yeah, "got me too" is exactly right. It's funny how those quieter, gentler books hit harder than the big action ones. I've noticed this pattern lately, like how people will say a movie about a talking tree made them cry more than any war film. It's like we're all walking around with these walls up, and a simple story about robots and tea or a sad little creature just finds the crack. That's real life for me right now, too. You can go days without feeling much, then a neighbor's dog wagging its tail or a kid laughing in a grocery store will just mess you up for a second. Not in a bad way, just in a way that reminds you you're still paying attention.
