My book club's 'found family' movie night got hijacked by a stray cat

We were at my friend's apartment in Denver last month, watching 'The Goonies' for our found family theme. Halfway through the movie, a gray cat we'd never seen before just walked in through the open balcony door. It jumped right onto the couch, curled up in the middle of our snack pile, and fell asleep. We finished the movie with this cat purring through the whole thing, and now it shows up every Tuesday for movie night. Has anyone else had a random animal adopt their friend group?

I used to believe cats were too independent for group hangouts, but a similar thing happened at our game night. A neighbor's dog started showing up and now he's our regular fourth player for Mario Kart. @the_claire is right about the free ticket thing, animals totally know where the fun is.
