Found a VHS tape from a 1994 bowling alley party and the last 5 minutes are just... wrong.

Picked it up at a yard sale in Akron for a quarter. The first hour is normal family stuff, cake and kids bowling. Then the audio gets all staticky and the picture starts to warp. The last bit shows the empty lanes at night, but the pins keep resetting by themselves in a weird order, like 7-10-4-2. Tried cleaning the tape heads on my VCR, but it plays the same on my buddy's deck too. Has anyone else found a tape that seems to glitch in a specific, repeatable way like this?

Weird order like 7-10-4-2 just sounds like a worn out tape to me. Old VHS tapes do that exact kind of repeatable glitch when the magnetic strip gets damaged in one spot.

Totally agree with that tape theory. I've seen tapes skip back to the same messed up part over and over. It fits the weird number pattern perfectly.
