Tip: Check the back of thrift store shelves for VHS tapes
I was at a Goodwill in Portland last weekend digging through their movie section and noticed all the good VHS tapes were gone from the front rows. But I got curious and pulled a few stacks back from the shelf, and back there was a bunch of stuff people missed. Found 3 tapes from the late 80s of some local fishing show, plus a sealed copy of a training video for an old Xerox copier. The workers just shove new donations in the front and never touch the back. Now I always check the back rows at every thrift store I hit. Has anyone else found hidden gems shoved way back on the shelf like that?

Did you actually watch that Xerox training tape or is it just sitting on a shelf somewhere? Because I gotta know if they still count as "gems" if nobody ever pops 'em in a VCR.

Totally makes sense with how a lot of things work, not just thrift stores. People always just grab whatever's in front and never bother to see what's been pushed back or hidden behind something else. It's like the same reason you find good deals on clearance racks at the very bottom where nobody looks.
