Can we talk about the moment you realize you've been gluing things wrong for a decade?
I was using wood glue on a piece of scrap metal and my friend just said, 'You know that's not going to hold, right?'. What's your biggest 'oh, that's why' moment with materials?

Spent years using duct tape for everything. Even on hot surfaces. Found a melted, sticky mess on my truck's engine cover last summer. Turns out that stuff's basically plastic and glue, melts right off. Now I keep a roll of foil tape in the toolbox.

Imagine thinking duct tape could handle engine heat lol. That sticky disaster sounds like a science experiment gone wrong. Good call switching to foil tape before your whole truck turned into a melted art project.

Did you ever try scraping that melted duct tape off though? @wilson.emma I bet that was a nightmare with all that sticky residue baked on. Foil tape is the real deal for anything near heat, I've used it on exhaust patches and it holds up way better than people think. Duct tape has its place but engine bays definitely aren't it. Once you learn that lesson the hard way you don't forget it.
