Another shift wasted on cracked molds from the new mix

The company decided to save money with a different sand binder, and it's not sticking together right. Every other mold I pull from the pattern has cracks or falls apart before we even pour. I've put in three requests with maintenance, but they just tell me to add more water. At this rate, we'll miss our production targets for the month.

Have you checked if the extra water is actually making it worse? Sometimes with cheap binders, adding water weakens the chemical hold instead of helping it stick. You might be following their fix but creating more soft spots that crack later. Then the whole batch is bad and you have to redo the work anyway. That lost time is what really kills the production numbers, not just the initial break.

Ugh, been there. I once added so much water trying to fix a mix that I basically made paste. It held for like an hour then just turned to dust. @troy439 is right, the rework time from those hidden soft spots is a nightmare.

Adding water until it's soup, brilliant plan.
