Just hit 500 pours on our old Hunter machine without a single cold shut
I know it sounds small, but after we had that bad run of castings last fall, I've been babying the temp control on every job. The boss put a little tally sheet on the wall and everything. It's not about the number, it's about getting our scrap rate back under 2% for the whole shop. Anyone else track a streak like that, or am I just being superstitious?

Read an article that said consistent temp logs cut scrap rates more than any single process change. Your tally sheet is basically doing the same thing.

Used to think tracking pours was just busywork until our scrap rate crept past 5%. Started logging furnace temps and pour times religiously, and it forced everyone to slow down just enough. That little tally sheet makes the good habits visible.

Our scrap was running at 7% before we added a second check for mold preheat. Did you see the biggest drop from the furnace temp log or the pour time tracking?
