PSA: I was convinced my green sand mix was perfect until a new guy at the Tacoma plant pointed out my ramming was uneven.

Honestly, seeing the consistent density of his test molds after he showed me his three-step corner packing method made me realize I'd been rushing that part for a decade, so has anyone else had a basic technique they thought they'd mastered completely wrong?

Man, this reminds me of my buddy in a cabinet shop. He swore his glue-up method was flawless for years, always blaming the wood when joints failed. A temp worker watched him once and just asked, "Why do you wipe the excess glue off before it tacks up?" Turns out he was creating a weak starved joint every single time. Completely changed his whole process.

Wow, my cousin did the exact same thing with his deck!

Wait, is wiping glue off really that big of a deal? I mean, a little squeeze-out is normal... I've always cleaned it up right away and my stuff hasn't fallen apart yet. Maybe it depends on the project or the type of glue? Feels like one of those things people make a huge fuss over online for no reason.
