Vent: I saw a museum exhibit on old cast iron stoves and the patterns were wild
I was at the industrial history museum in Pittsburgh and they had a whole section on 19th century stove plate casting. The sand molds for some of those ornate designs must have been a nightmare to ram up and vent properly. Has anyone here ever worked with a pattern that complex for a one-off piece?

I used to think the old stoves were just clunky and ugly, but your comment honestly changed my mind. @oscar_hunt61 they probably added those faces and vines to make something boring feel special, you know? Like some iron worker in 1880 was showing off their skill because nobody was gonna pay good money for a plain box.

Oh man, I saw something like that once. All these curlicues and grapevines and little faces. I just kept picturing some poor apprentice in 1870, covered in sand, having a full mental breakdown because the mold for a fireplace god cracked for the third time. All that work just to boil some water.
