Am I the only one who finds more customers rushing the finishing process?

I've been finishing furniture for about fifteen years now... and I can't help but notice a shift. More clients ask for that 'distressed' look in half the time. Last month, a table project had the customer wanting to skip grain filling. I explained it might not hold up, but they were set on it. The piece looks okay now, but I worry about later. It feels like the care for proper steps is fading. Has anyone else dealt with this? How do you balance client wishes with doing a solid job?

Funny you mention this, it's like when people skip car maintenance to save a few bucks and @seth_wells49 might be onto something with the money thing. Reminds me of a neighbor who never changed his oil and wondered why his engine died.

Is it really about saving time or just saving money?

Didn't a study show most people pick the cheaper option even if it wastes more time?
