Just read that a single sunflower head can contain up to 2,000 seeds. Found that out while cleaning up the bird feeder mess under mine.

Honestly, that reminds me of the time I tried to grow a few sunflowers by my old apartment. The squirrels absolutely destroyed them before they could even fully open, just for the buds. Total waste of effort.

Wait, they went for the BUDS? That's just mean. I thought they only wanted the seeds.

My neighbor's entire tulip bed got beheaded by deer last spring, maybe twenty flowers gone overnight. They seem to go for the colorful buds first, not the leaves. It's just brutal to watch all that work get eaten in one go.
