I always check alleyways in old towns now.
Everyone misses the small shops tucked away. I found a place that sells handmade pottery for less than the tourist stalls.

Alleyways aren't always the jackpot. I spent a whole afternoon once going down every side street in this historic district and most led to dead ends or parking lots. The good spots are usually word-of-mouth, like that pottery place you found. It's cool when you stumble on them, but it's not a sure thing.

I mean, come on, is looking in alleyways really that big a deal? You make it sound like a fun search, but most times it's just a waste of time. Sure, spots from friends are cool, but even those can be too talked up. Maybe we're worrying too much about finding secret places when normal spots are fine too. Like, I get why it's fun, but after a few dead ends, you start to ask why you even try.

Ever get so pumped for a cool find and end up with nothing? I wasted a whole Saturday following a map to some secret garden, but it was just someone's overgrown backyard. That hype from friends can set you up for a real letdown. Sometimes the usual coffee shop or park is just as good without the hassle. Why do we chase after hidden spots when the normal ones are right there?
