How my grandmother's stained recipe binder taught me more than any cooking app
In my experience, deciphering her handwritten notes forced a deeper engagement with each step. Your mileage may vary, but that process ingrained fundamentals that quick video tutorials often skip over. Now, I always jot down adjustments, keeping that tradition alive.

Honestly, can a cooking app ever capture the glory of a crusty, stained recipe page? Tbh, @thomas_davis's vanilla scent anecdote just highlights how digital perfection misses the point entirely. Ngl, my grandma's binder taught me that good cooking is half memory and half mess.

My grandma's binder had this one page so stained with vanilla you could practically smell it twenty years later... it showed me which recipes were real favorites, not just aspirational. That kind of physical evidence of use is a different teacher altogether.

Sure, a stained page is nostalgic, but digital recipes accumulate history through edits and comments. You can see every tweak and adjustment over time. That's a different kind of evidence, but it's just as real.
