Local shop owner in Tulsa told me to hit squealing belts with WD-40. Said it was an old trick. First deck worked for a week, then the belt stretched and slipped worse. Second one started eating tapes. Third one I finally checked the belt and it was all gooey. Turns out WD-40 breaks down the rubber. Now I just replace the belt like everyone says. Cost me about $40 in belts and a pile of frustration. Anyone else get burned by a shortcut from a supposed pro?
