Gas station sushi vs. the 24 hour diner, I made the switch after one bad night
I work security at the hospital near downtown and used to grab the supermarket sushi that sits by the register around 2am. After a rough shift where I felt awful for two days, I started hitting the all night diner on 12th street instead. They have a $6.50 breakfast plate with eggs, hash browns, and toast that actually holds me to 7am. The food takes 10 minutes but it's real cooking, not cold rice and imitation crab. My buddy still swears by the gas station taquitos but I've seen the expiration stickers back there. Has anyone else ditched the convenience stuff for a proper sit down spot even with the longer wait?
That diner on 12th sounds like a solid setup, and I made the same switch about a year ago after a 3am gas station burrito took me out for a whole weekend. Now I just sit down at the counter spot near my place and wait the 10 minutes, because hot food that was actually cooked beats anything sitting under a heat lamp. A little extra time is worth it when you're not gambling with your stomach at 4am.
