My 1990s Robo-Rover finally clicked after 15 minutes with a spare VCR motor

Last month I dug out that old Robo-Rover from my parents' basement in Pittsburgh, and the drive gear was totally stripped from 30 years of cheap plastic. I swapped in a motor from a junked VCR my neighbor gave me 3 years ago, and it walks straight again, has anyone else found random household motors that fix these old bots?
