Guy at a flea market swore by hair dryer on labels, had doubts for months

Back in March at the Rose Bowl swap meet, this older seller told me to hit stubborn cartridge stickers with a hair dryer on low for about 90 seconds before peeling. I figured he was just trying to push his $5 bin of ugly Sports games. Tried it last week on a beat-up NES cart with a torn price tag from some rental store in Ohio. The adhesive came off clean with no paper residue, no scraping, no goo gone smell. I used to ruin labels with damp cloths and plastic razors, this took maybe two minutes total. Now I keep a cheap travel dryer in my garage just for this. Anyone else got a weird tool tip for cleaning old cart labels without wrecking the art? I still worry about heat warping the plastic shell on thin Game Boy carts, so I keep it on the lowest setting.
