This guy at a flea market in Ohio taught me to check the B side first
Found a stack of 70s funk records at a swap meet outside Cleveland last spring, nothing jumping out until this older dude next to me flipped over a cheap looking comp and pointed at the label. He said 'everyone hunts the hits, but the deep cuts hide on the flip side' and showed me a killer track that wasn't even listed on the front sleeve. We ended up chatting for 20 minutes while he pulled out a 45 that had a radio station promo sticker and a scratched up A side, but the B side played clean as glass. He sold it to me for $4 and even scribbled the year and studio info on a little card inside the sleeve. That habit stuck with me, now I always check the back before I put anything back in the crate. You ever find something good that way, where the B side made the whole record worth it?
