Stopped writing novels for each wine tasted

I saw I was jotting down too many details and missing the actual drink. So I quit the big lists and kept my notes to three or four words. For example, my last Pinot Noir got 'cherry, soft, easy night' instead of a paragraph. Now looking back at my journal, I remember the wines way better. It turns the whole thing from a job back into a fun hobby. Who knew less writing could mean more enjoyment?

Swapped my sketchbook notes for quick three word phrases too.

Have you noticed how this three-word trick (once you start using it) shows up in other parts of life too? Like @charliemartin said, it forces you to pick what really matters, which I see in how I give quick feedback. It's a simple way to cut through the noise and actually remember stuff.

Totally get this, and charliemartin's point about sketchbooks fits right in. Applying that three word limit to other stuff, like describing a meal or a walk, forces you to pick the one or two things that actually mattered. It cuts out all the noise and just saves the real feeling. My brain seems to hold onto those short, sharp notes way better than any long list.
