Small language model beat my "smart" setup for sorting client emails
I spent 2 weekends building a complex rules system in my inbox to sort project briefs, invoices, and vendor replies. Last Tuesday I tried a tiny local model, like Llama 3.2 3B, and it nailed the routing after just 30 minutes of training examples. Way fewer false flags than my old keyword filters, especially for tricky emails where a client mentions a deadline in a paragraph about something else. Has anyone else found that smaller, focused models outwork the big ones for single boring tasks like this?
