Had a talk with my dad that changed how I see AI voice cloning

I used to think AI voice cloning was mostly for scams or deepfake nonsense. But my dad who lives in Austin showed me a recording he made using Respeecher to clone his voice so he could read bedtime stories to my niece while he's away on work trips. Hearing his voice come through so clearly and hearing my niece ask for more stories hit me different. Has anyone else found a genuinely wholesome use for this tech?

Hang on, just a small correction - Respeecher is actually a voice cloning service that requires the person to record scripts, not just upload a clip and have it read anything. Your dad probably spent a good chunk of time recording his lines to get the voice model right. Still a really sweet use of the tech though, just takes more effort up front than most people realize.
