I finally walked out of a vendor demo in San Jose after 10 minutes

Some AI startup was showing off their "revolutionary" scheduling tool for construction crews. The sales guy kept saying it would save me 15 hours a week. I asked him how it handles rain delays and material shortages and he just smiled and said "the algorithm adjusts." No details, no demo of it actually working with real data. I told him I've been running crews for 12 years and left. Has anyone else had vendors just handwave at your actual problems?

Honestly, "the algorithm adjusts" is the new version of "we'll fix it in post." It feels like everywhere I go now, from my phone's autocorrect to the grocery store self-checkout, some program is supposed to magically figure out real-world messes but never actually does. Tbh, this whole trend of using tech as a magic wand instead of showing the gritty details is just making everything more frustrating, not easier.
