My kid asked the smart speaker a question and it made up a fake book, now I keep thinking about it
Last Tuesday my 9 year old asked our Echo who invented the zipper and it gave a name and a whole story that turned out to be made up when I checked later. I remember back in like 2010 asking Jeeves stuff and it would just say it didn't know, which honestly feels better than a confident wrong answer. The part that stuck with me is how smooth the fake answer sounded, no hedge, no maybe, just facts delivered plain. I showed my kid the real story about Judson in 1893 and she just shrugged like it was no big deal. How do you all explain hallucinations to people who didn't grow up around this stuff?
