Separating the hands into their own generation is the move. I crop just the hand area out and run it through an inpainting tool with a negative prompt for "mutated fingers" and a positive for "anatomically correct hand". Then I layer it back in and blend the edges with a soft brush. Takes like 5 extra minutes but saves me from tearing my hair out over a 6-fingered monstrosity.

Had to use Midjourney for a project last week and yeah hands are STILL a nightmare. What worked for me was feeding it really specific reference photos of hands doing the exact pose I needed. Like not just "holding a cup" but "right hand gripping a ceramic mug thumb on top". Also started doing the hand in a separate generation then photoshopping it in afterward. Less frustrating than trying to fix the whole image.
