The chatbot I built for my shop gave a customer a price that was $200 too low
I set up one of those small business chat bots about 3 months ago to handle after hours questions at the shop, and it worked great until it quoted a lady $150 for a panel swap that should run $350. It pulled the old price from a webpage I forgot to update back in January, and she showed up saying I had to honor it. How do you all keep your AI tools from using stale info, is there a trick I'm missing?
Back in March I told my bot the price for a water heater swap was $800 and then forgot I'd raised it to $950, so a guy drove two hours expecting the old number. My bot has the memory of a goldfish with a head injury, and honestly so do I. The trick that finally worked for me was keeping one single price sheet in a Google Doc and updating that doc instead of the site. Then I paste the link into the bot's setup so it reads the live version every time someone asks. You still have to remember to edit the doc, but at least there's only one place to mess up instead of five.
