Air fryer wings vs my old deep fryer, which side are you on?

I used to swear by my big oil fryer for crispy wings, took 20 minutes and made the whole kitchen smell. Last month I got an air fryer and now I'm getting the same crunch in 12 minutes with way less mess, but my buddy in Austin says the texture is never quite the same. Which method do you think wins for game day wings?
