My air fryer tried to make a smoke bomb out of a bag of frozen fries
Last Tuesday, I was just trying to cook a quick dinner. I put in a full bag of those crinkle cut fries, set it for 400 degrees, and walked away. Came back five minutes later to a kitchen full of smoke and a weird burning plastic smell. Turns out the little paper bag inside the box had slid into the basket with the last few fries and I didn't see it. Had to open all the windows in the apartment. Anyone have a good method for checking for rogue packaging before you start cooking?

Opening all the windows seems like a bit much. Was the bag actually on fire or just smoking a little?

Yikes, always shake the bag first.

Actually I pour it out slowly so the dust settles at the bottom. That way I can avoid the clump of powder at the end. Shaking just mixes it all in again.
