My sister ruined chicken wings in her air fryer and blamed me
Last Sunday I went over to my sister Lisa's place in Des Moines and she tried to make frozen wings on 400 for 10 minutes. They came out raw and chewy, then she got mad at me for not warning her about preheating first. I told her to always preheat for 3 minutes or her food won't cook right, but she rolled her eyes. Has anyone else had a family member mess up a recipe and blame you instead of their air fryer settings?

Ah man that is so frustrating! Honestly air fryers have a learning curve and 400 for 10 minutes on frozen wings is a disaster waiting to happen. I did the same thing with my mom's air fryer last month and she blamed me for not reading the manual out loud to her. Ngl it's wild how family members will mess up the temp or time and then act like you sabotaged them on purpose.

Start with the smallest batch you can the first time around with any new gadget. Frozen wings especially need about 20 degrees less than whatever recipe says (I swear the packages lie to sell more burnt food). Check at 6 minutes, shake the basket, check again at 8. My rule of thumb is always go lower and longer, you can always add heat but you can't un-burn a basket of wings. Another trick: pat them dry first if they came out of a bag with ice crystals, that stops the splatter and soggy mess.
