Vent: dropped $70 on a cheap air fryer at a Walmart in Toledo and it turned my wings into leather
I grabbed a $70 air fryer at the Walmart on Secor in Toledo back in March, thinking I could finally make crispy wings without heating up the whole kitchen. Turns out the basket was so small that the wings sat in a pile, and after 25 minutes at 400 they came out dry and sad while the veggies I threw in turned to mush. Has anyone else had a cheap air fryer completely wreck a recipe, or is it just me?
Oh man, been there. I once tried to air fry a whole batch of wings in one of those tiny $40 ones and it was like chewing on a shoe. The problem is the pile, you gotta do them in one layer or they steam instead of crisp, which is why yours came out like leather. Mine sat there for like 30 minutes and I kept checking it like that would somehow fix it. Live and learn I guess, now I just do smaller batches even if it takes forever.
