Convention panel Q&A made me rewatch everything with subs

At Anime NYC last year I stood through a 45 minute sub vs dub argument that got hostile. Some guy shouted that dubs ruin character voice acting and a bunch of people started clapping. I went home and rewatched my favorite series with subtitles for the first time in 3 years, and honestly the original performances hit way harder. Has anyone else had a panel debate flip their viewing habits like that?
