Figured out that skipping the OP every episode kills my anime-watching flow
I was fast forwarding through openings for months and my buddies said i was missing out, so i tried letting them play for a whole season of Frieren and now i actually look forward to the song and the art. Has anyone else noticed how skipping changes how you feel about the show?

Gotta admit I was the same way, always skipping until my friend basically guilt tripped me into watching an OP from a show I was binging. Now I feel like a fool for missing half the show's vibe honestly. The song and the animation just set the mood so perfectly, like for some shows I actually mark out when the track hits. My brain used to treat OPs as a loading screen and now I realize they are part of the actual experience.

Dude same thing happened to me with my brother over the Evangelion OP. He kept telling me, "You're missing the whole point, you gotta let it play." I finally caved and now I get goosebumps every time that bass line drops, lol. Funny how something you used to skip can become your favorite part of a show, right ross.river? Makes me wonder how many other intros I robbed myself of. Cowboy Bebop's OP is another one, I literally can't skip it even if I'm in a rush, it's like a ritual now.

Ngl I used to be one of those people who'd skip intros without a second thought, like it was just dead air I had to get through. But this thread is making me rethink everything, especially the part about them being part of the actual experience. I started letting a few play recently, like the one for Mob Psycho 100, and honestly the energy of the song and the little character moments in the animation set me up for the whole episode way better than jumping straight in. Now I feel kinda dumb for missing out on that vibe for years. Maybe I'm wrong but I think the show hits different when you let that mood settle in first.
