Got laughed at for watching dubs, then I tried one and actually liked it
For like 5 years I was one of those 'subs only' people. I'd make jokes about dub voice acting sounding like a cartoon from the 80s. Then last month I was doing a fence job and could only have one earbud in, so I put on a dubbed episode of Spy x Family. I mean, I actually got invested in it. The voice for Anya is perfect. Has anyone else changed their mind on something they used to judge hard?

That dub of Kaguya-sama actually made the narrator funnier.

Is the gatekeeping really that deep though? I feel like some people just need something to feel superior about and anime preferences are an easy target. Long as you're not hurting anyone, just watch the show and move on.

Yeah, I've been there! The trick is to stop treating subs and dubs like some kind of competition and just watch what fits your situation. Once you get past the weird gatekeeping, you realize good dubbing is just a different way to enjoy the same story.
