Had a convo with my buddy at 2am about why we still watch one piece

He said it's not about the plot anymore it's about how the characters feel like old friends we've known for 15 years and honestly that hit different than any hot take about pacing ever did has anyone else realized they stick with a show for totally different reasons than when they started?

It's like that thing where you keep going to the same diner even though the food is just okay, because the waitress knows your order and asks about your mom. The comfort of familiarity outweighs the thrill of something new (especially when that something new could just be a letdown). One Piece is basically the digital equivalent of a worn in couch that fits your butt perfectly, saggy cushions and all. That's what keeps people coming back to anything old, really, not the plot twists but the feeling of being known.

Guess my favorite diner is this forum, been sitting in the same booth for years.
