I had a commenter tell me I was pausing anime too much to analyze it
They pointed out I was missing the emotional flow of the story that the creators intended. Now I just watch a whole episode first before going back to look at the details, and I get way more out of the experience. Has anyone else had a viewing habit changed by a specific critique?

Got into the habit of pausing anime constantly to catch every little detail. That was me for years. Then someone pointed out I was treating it like a homework assignment. Tried the whole "watch first, analyze later" thing with a show called Violet Evergarden. First time through I actually got choked up. Went back to look at the animation and it hit so much harder because I already had the emotional weight from the episode. Completely changed how I watch everything now.

Wait, someone actually made you realize you were doing that? That's wild. I've been stuck in the same loop for years with certain shows. Pausing every 30 seconds to analyze the background details or the animation style. It's like my brain can't turn off the critic mode. Maybe I need to try what you did with something simple, like a show I don't care about analyzing. Just let it wash over me.

See, I kinda disagree though. Pausing every 30 seconds is how I get my money's worth out of a show. If I just let it "wash over me" I'd miss half the little details that make it good.
