Okay I was totally wrong about those expensive anime subscription boxes

I dropped about $60 on a 'mystery' crate from a popular service, and it was just a pile of keychains and a wrinkled poster for a show I don't even watch. It completely burned me on the whole concept of blind merch purchases. Has anyone else gotten something actually GOOD from one of these, or are they all a scam?

Check the resale market for those boxes before you buy one. People unbox them live and sell the individual items. You can see exactly what junk you are getting and often buy the one good piece for a fraction of the box price. The whole mystery part is just a trick to offload cheap overstock nobody wants. They count on the surprise to hide the low value.

Yeah, the "surprise to hide the low value" part is why my closet is full of weird plastic junk. I never learn.
