Rant: I finally dropped my 3 episode rule and it got me hooked on shows I used to trash
For years I forced myself to watch 3 full episodes of any anime before I quit, no matter how bored I was. Last month I switched to a hard 1 episode cutoff because my backlog hit 47 shows and I was wasting nights on stuff I hated. I picked that rule and wow, it backfired in the best way. I bailed on 9 shows in 2 weeks, but the ones that grabbed me in episode 1 like Odd Taxi and Ping Pong I finished in 3 sittings each. My watch time dropped by like 15 hours a month and I actually remember what I watched. So now I'm torn. Is the 3 episode rule just sunk cost lying to us, or does ditching early make you miss slow burns like Steins Gate?
