Spent $200 on a limited edition Blu-ray box set of an old mecha series, and the discs were scratched right out of the case.
I dropped $200 on a fancy collector's edition of a 90s mecha show, but two of the discs had scratches that made them skip episodes. Do you think paying extra for physical media is worth the risk, or should I have just streamed it?

Yeah, @tylerr29 mentioned reaching out to the company, and that's honestly the move. I had a friend who bought a limited edition Ghibli set and one disc was scratched to hell, he emailed them and they sent a replacement disc in like a week. Still feels like a gamble though, especially for that price tag.

Wait, did you reach out to the company about a replacement? My buddy dropped like $150 on that Evangelion collector’s set a few years back and the first disc wouldn’t even load. He emailed them and they sent him a whole new set for free, no questions asked. But yeah, I get what you mean dude, it’s a gamble. I’ve had good luck with most of my physical media, but I also keep my old PS2 games in a plastic bin and they still play fine. Streaming’s nice but you never know when a show’s gonna disappear off a service. For me, if it’s something I really love, I’d still risk the discs.

Wait, $150 and it wouldn't even load? That's crazy, @tylerr29! I'd be so mad if I dropped that much cash on a busted disc haha.
