That time a fake spoiler derailed our whole thread for a week

We used to take forum theories so seriously. Someone posted a fake ending leak and the mods had to lock it after 200 replies. Now leaks are everywhere but back then it was chaos.

But why did we trust those fake leaks so much? Forums felt more closed off, so any new info seemed huge. Now everything's out in the open, so leaks lost that shock value.

Small town gossip spreads the same way (limited info, big reactions).

You really think leaks don't cause chaos now? Look at that huge Marvel plot detail that dropped last month, it had entire subreddits in meltdown for days. The shock isn't gone, it's just different. We get a thousand leaks, so we all scramble to figure out which one is real, and that creates even more mess. Isn't that just a bigger kind of chaos?
