That time a random viewer DM'd me about a spoiler in my review
I posted a review of episode 7 from that new mecha series last Tuesday, just my thoughts on the pacing. Some guy named Kenji messaged me within an hour, saying I "ruined the emotional payoff" by mentioning the character's backstory. He was really upset, kept quoting my line about the childhood flashback. Has anyone else had a viewer take your analysis that personally? It stuck with me because I thought I was being careful.

Wait did Kenji also show up in your DMs with a 12 paragraph essay about how you "destroyed his viewing experience" or was that just me? Some people act like you personally called their mom a bad name by mentioning a flashback that was literally in the show. I had a dude once rage at me for pointing out the main villain's theme music was reused from episode 2, like bro it's a public forum not your private reaction channel.

Wow, that Kenji guy sounds intense. I've had something similar happen but from a weirder angle. I mentioned in a review that a certain plot twist was set up by the show's own visual language in the opening credits, and some dude messaged me accusing me of "reading too deep" like I was attacking his simple enjoyment. What nobody seems to talk about is how these viewers are treating the show like it's a sacred trust they've been personally guarding. They're not mad about the review itself, they're mad that you saw something they missed and it made them feel dumb. It's like they think spoilers only count if the information directly comes from the studio and not from your own brain connecting the dots. The real spoiler is that you were paying attention and they weren't.
