The whole time I was skipping the ending song on every anime I watched

I used to always click skip on the ending credits because I thought they were a waste of time. Then I watched Attack on Titan season 2 and let the ending play by accident one night. The visuals told a mini story that tied back to the main plot in a way I totally missed. Now I'm wondering how many clues or emotional moments I skipped over the last 4 years. Did anyone else blow past these things without realizing they mattered?

haha yeah I feel that. I used to fast forward through all the Gintama endings and then one time I let it play and realized there was like a whole ongoing gag about the characters trying to get the credits to actually play. So now I'm like wait, did I miss a running joke that was happening for three seasons? it's kind of a bummer but also funny in a dumb way. guess we both learned the hard way that the anime industry doesn't put all that effort into a credit sequence just to waste your time. your mileage may vary though, some endings are still total filler and not worth watching.
