TIL the anime club at my local library has 40 members and I got roasted for saying filler arcs are skippable
I went to my first anime club meetup at the Rosewood library branch last Saturday, mostly because I had nothing else going on and my buddy kept bugging me about it. There were 40 people packed into a room meant for maybe 25, and the moment they went around for intros I said I always skip filler arcs on long shows. You would have thought I insulted someone's grandma. A guy in a Gundam hoodie spent a solid 4 minutes explaining why the filler in some shows is where the characters actually breathe, and half the room nodded along while I just sat there. I still skip filler, but now I know better than to say it out loud in that room again. Does your local club have any unspoken rules like this, or was I just unlucky with this group?
Man, who cares that much about filler arcs in a library club? It sounds like those 40 people just needed something to feel superior about. Filler is skippable by definition, that is literally what the word means, so getting a 4 minute lecture over it is wild. A room full of people nodding along to a guy in a Gundam hoodie like he cracked the code of anime? Please. Just watch what you want and let them die on that hill.
