Did a tree survey in Richmond last week and saw something wild
I was out in Richmond doing a routine survey for a new development and I kept noticing these huge old oaks with major root compaction from all the construction equipment. The builders were driving right over the root zones like it was nothing. One tree had bark damage and soil so packed down you could barely dig with a hand trowel. Anyone else run into this where developers just ignore the root protection zones?

Didn't they just pass a new law about tree protection in Richmond?

Betty, I think you might be thinking of the tree protection ordinance that went through last year in Henrico County, not Richmond itself. Richmond has some rules on the books but they mostly apply to new developments with permits, not enforcement on active construction sites like this one. Have you worked with any of these laws on a job before?
