Hit 50 mature tree removals this year - didn't see that coming

Started keeping count back in January just out of curiosity. Now it's November and I've pulled 50 big ones, mostly oaks and maples. Anyone else track their numbers and get surprised by the total?

Fifty trees is a lot but maples and oaks don't grow that fast, are you sure they were all mature?

Actually red oaks can hit 20 feet in 10 years if the conditions are right, especially in the southeast where the growing season is longer. I've seen stands of them in North Carolina that were planted for timber and they were pushing 30 feet by year 12. The maples are slower, sure, but if they're silver maples those things grow like weeds, 2-3 feet a year easy. Without knowing what species they planted, hard to say if the counts are off.
