The old climber at the Vancouver job taught me to check my hitch cord every 20 climbs, and he was dead right
I blew him off for months because my cord looked fine from the outside, then last Tuesday I found a melted spot right where the friction hitch sat during a removal in Burnaby. Now I swap it out way more often, and I'm wondering how often the rest of you replace hitch cords versus just eyeballing them.
