The pruner I borrowed changed how I see my cuts

Last month I used my buddy's bypass pruner on a big maple job in Portland and the clean cuts healed up way faster than the ones from my old anvil style. The difference showed in about 3 weeks when new growth pushed out on the pruned branches while the others stayed dormant. Has anyone else switched tools and seen the tree respond that quick?
