TIL rope access cuts my crane rental time in half

Used to just call a bucket truck for every deadwooding job no matter what. Switched to rope access about 2 years ago after a tight alley job in Portland where a bucket couldn't even fit. Anyone else switch and notice their back hurting less?

Honestly, I switched to rope access about a year ago and my back hurts less but my ego hurts more. Ngl, I tripped over a branch on the ground last week and my climbing harness didn't even catch me. Tbh rope access makes me feel like a ninja until I realize I'm just a guy with a rope and a saw trying not to embarrass myself in front of the homeowners. My bucket truck days were rough on the lower back, sure, but at least I could sit down for a minute. Now I'm just hanging there sweating and thinking about all the dumb decisions that got me into arboriculture.

Is it weird that I actually kind of miss the bucket truck sometimes?
