Tried a throw line bag from 1995 on a red oak last week

Dug out my old leather throw bag that I had since my first year climbing. The stitching gave out on the third toss and the shot went straight into a storm drain. Anybody else find old gear that just doesn't hold up like you remembered?

Old gear can surprise you but those 90s throw bags were never really that great to begin with.

Had the same thing happen with my old harness from 2001 - wore it to climb a maple and felt like I was sitting in a looser hammock than a tree saddle. Guess I'm lucky I didn't fall straight into that storm drain with you.
