Can we talk about the 3 AM diner in Akron that ruined regular breakfast for me

I stopped at a late night spot off Route 8 last month because my car broke down nearby. The cook came out and asked what I wanted, I said pancakes, and he just shook his head. He brought me this scrappy plate with crispy edges, real butter, and syrup warmed on the grill. Nothing fancy, but the patience he put into it was obvious. Every diner I hit since then feels like they're rushing the batter. Has anyone else had one random meal that made every other version of that food pointless?

The grill-warmed syrup is the detail that gets me, nobody does that anymore because it takes actual effort. That cook treated one plate of pancakes like it mattered, and fast food breakfast just feels like they're checking a box now. Makes me wonder how many other simple meals we've let get ruined by convenience.
