Debate: Should you correct a stranger's mistake or let it slide?
Last week at the gas station on Route 9, I watched a guy grab 87 octane for his clearly turbocharged Subaru STI. I stood there debating whether to say something or mind my own business. Three years ago I did speak up to a guy filling a rental minivan with diesel and he thanked me. Last month I tried the same with a woman overfilling her tire at 50 psi and she told me to get lost. So which side do you lean toward - stepping in or staying quiet?

Three years ago I tried to help a guy putting diesel in a Prius and he looked at me like I had three heads before walking inside anyway. My track record is like 50/50 so I basically have no business giving advice to anyone. I once told a lady her gas cap was on the roof of her car and she still ignored me for like 10 seconds. These days I just assume everyone knows what they're doing even if their engine is screaming in protest. The one time I actually saved someone from wrecking their car they didn't even say thanks so I'm officially retired from good samaritan duty.

lol @wren976 the diesel thing is hilarious but honestly a Prius is a hybrid not a full electric so pouring diesel in it would still mess it up bad. you were right even if he didn't listen
