Got some harsh feedback on my Ask Anything posts from a regular here
A user named DanTheMan called me out last week for asking too many open ended questions that were impossible to answer. He said something like 'your posts feel like you just want people to write your homework for you.' At first I was annoyed but then I looked back at my last 5 submissions and he was right. I was asking stuff like 'what's the best way to learn coding' without any context about my background. So now I always include my experience level and what I've already tried before posting. It's gotten way better responses. Anyone else ever get called out like that and actually change how you post?

Oh man, that "guess what's in my head" line from jade271 hit home. I had a similar wakeup call when someone straight up told me my posts sounded like I was shouting into a void with zero useful info. After I started listing what I'd already tried and what version of the software I was using, people actually replied with real fixes instead of just scrolling past.

Three weeks ago a guy named PixelPusher told me my troubleshooting questions were basically "guess what's in my head." He was dead right. I was asking why my render was crashing without listing my GPU or software version. Now I always put my specs and what I already checked. Got a fix in 10 minutes on my next post. People actually want to help if you give them something to work with.

My first post on here got zero replies because I just said "help my pc is slow" without listing anything. @jade271 is right about giving people something to work with. I started copying a template from a sticky post that had spots for specs and error codes. Night and day difference in quality of help after that.
